Project Details
A transformation of a Victorian four-storey doctors’ surgery in Parsons Green, South West London, into a flagship nursery school providing 50 new places for children in the local area. Owned by Parsons Green Nursery, this is their second location and was carefully designed by Delve in conjunction with the Parsons Green Nursery’s Directors to create a ‘home from home’ feel while providing large open spaces to inspire creativity and facilitate meaningful interactions for children.
The nursery is spread over four floors, with each area specially designed to suit the particular year group. Built in joinery is designed to be age specific for the year group at each level, such as the bespoke reading area for the older three and four-year old children on the first floor, and the tiered low-level seating under the basement skylight for one and two-year olds. The design also extended the existing basement level, introducing large walk on skylights to bring light down from the upper levels, and create a light and open feel for the lowest classroom level. The ground floor classroom features a spectacular oversized picture window and pivot door, creating a visual link and access into the landscaped multi use garden at the rear, for all year groups.
